A tissue is made up of cells of a similar type. The cells, due to their similar structures, have a particular function in the body. Muscle tissue, for example, is able to contract and move bones and other parts of the body. Several different tissues may be grouped together to form an entire, coordinated structure - an organ - with many functions. For instance, the stomach has several roles in the body and is equipped with several different tissues to perform those roles.
